Automating Deployment of Hadoop Clusters on AWS GovCloud

Cloud infrastructure has become a key component of many enterprise strategies. This is no different for US Government organizations. However, many of these organizations are not allowed to use the public cloud platforms provided by the commercial cloud vendors. Instead, they are required to use a government certified cloud platform. One of the most popular platforms today is AWS GovCloud from Amazon. While the AWS GovCloud platform offers many services that are compatible with their corresponding public cloud services, there are often subtle differences of which you need to be aware.

The goal of this talk is to discuss how to deploy Hadoop clusters on AWS GovCloud using existing tools and methods. In addition, we will show how to automate the deployment of Hadoop clusters on AWS GovCloud. More importantly, we will show an automation process that enables a consistent, repeatable, and supportable approach Integrated with and built on top of Apache Ambari Blueprints.

Attendees to this talk should walk away with a better understanding of the nuances of deploying Hadoop clusters on the AWS GovCloud platform. You will see how using Apache Ambari Blueprints as a core aspect of the deployment process makes integrating into existing enterprise DevOps processes easy.
